For requirements with ultimately low phase noise AXTAL has introduced two new series of OCXO in the VHF frequency range 80 MHZ to 125 MHz.
The series AXIOM35ULN comes in the miniature package CO 15 with a footprint of only 20x20 mm and a height of less than 12 mm.
The series AXIOM75ULN comes in the standard CO 43 package CO 43 with a footprint of 25.4x25.4 mm and a height of less than 13 mm.
Both models offer five different options for the phase noise level, which allows to pick the most cost-effective version for each application.

Since many years AXTAL is offering special piezoelectric crystal materials like Langasite (LGT) and Langatate (LGT), which are complementing quartz especially for high temperature sensor applications.
Now we are introducing a new material called CTGS, which stands for the chemical composition Ca3TaGa3Si2O14.
This piezoelectrical crystal has the same crystal structure as quartz (quartz-isomorph) and is a member of the so-called "Langasite family". CTGS shows very interesting features which are especially suited for piezoelectric sensors operating at higher temperatures.
Compared to Langatate (LGT) the isolation resistivity is two orders of magnitude higher, which makes CTGS superior for pressure sensors based on the static piezielectric effect.

This month AXTAL has successfully passed the ISO9001:2008 recertification audit performed by TUEV SUED.

Due to AXTAL's steady growth the rent space in the "Ideenwerkstatt" has become too tight. During the 2010 Convention of the German Standarization Committee "Deutsche Kommission Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik im DIN und VDE (DKE)" AXTAL's General Manager Bernd Neubig was awarded with the "DKE Needle" for his long-term voluntary engagement and for his contributions to the standardization in the field of electrotechnology.
The citation given by the DKE president Dietmar Harting reads:
"More than 25 years Herr Neubig is actively working in the standardization of piezo-electric and dielectric components for Frequency Stabilization and –Selection, a key technology for a wide lineup of applications in the broadband communication. Since 1991 he is chairman of the DKE committee K 642 “Piezoelektrische Bauteile zur Frequenzstabilisierung und –Selektion“. Until 2003 he was German Head of IEC/TC 49 „Piezoelectric and dielectric devices for frequency control and selection”. He continues to participate actively in the work of the Working Groups of IEC/TC 49."

A new benchmark for ultra-low phase noise is set with AXTAL's OCXO series AXIOM5151. It is available with a frequency of 100 MHz to 120 MHz and offers an ultra-low phase noise floor of better than -180 dBc/Hz.

At the forthcoming 2009 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, which takes place in Rome/Italy from September 20-23, an Invited Paper entitled "Comparison of Quartz and MEMS Resonators and Oscillators" will be given by Bernd Neubig, General Manager of AXTAL.

AXTAL introduces as new product a GPS disciplined Ovenized Crystal Oscillator (GPSDO).
The new AXGPS is an Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO), who’s medium
and long-term stability is improved to the 10-12 level by
disciplining the output frequency to the precision timing of the GPS satellite
system.
The module incorporates a low-noise high stability OCXO with a precision SC-cut crystal delivering a 10 MHz output with very low phase-noise and excellent short term stability (Allan deviation). For highest performance Option 02 incorporating a double-oven OCXO (DOCXO) is available. A high-performance GPS receiver in connection with a 32bit processor are controlling the output frequency and provide temperature and aging compensation during holdover.
The module can be controlled and monitored through an RS-232 interface
using standard SCPI commands. It is compatible to GPSCon Windows SNTP server
software.

On invitation of the Beijing Institute of Radio Metrology and Measurements (BIRMM) AXTAL's General Manager Bernd Neubig, will present an Invited Paper at the forthcoming International Conference on Metrology & Measurement, which takes place in Beijing /China from September 5 - 7, 2007. After the good attendance at the EEEfCOM in Ulm, Bernd Neubig will give a new lecture at the workshop of the RadioTecC 2006 show in Berlin on October 19, 2006 (09:00-09:45 h). The paper will be given in German language and will cover the subject of crystals and oscillators for microwave applications.
In addition AXTAL will be presented during the whole RadioTecC show from October 18 - 19 at the booth of our representative GLOBES.
The suffix "HP" stands for "High Performance" in the new OCXO models AXIOM10HP and AXIOM30HP. Both models are the benchmark for high stability (± 5 ppb over temperature) and very low phase noise (-100 dBc @ 1Hz and -130 dBc @ 10 Hz), both combined in an ultimately small package.
AXIOM10HP comes in the SMD package CO28 (22 x 25 x 14 mm) , whereas AXIOM30HP is the through-hole version in a 7-pin version of the CO15 package (20 x 20 x 11.5 mm). At the 2006 IEEE Frequency Control Symposium in Miami , AXTAL's General Manager Bernd Neubig received the David P. Larsen Award issued by the Piezoelectric Devices Association (PDA).

AXTAL will participate at the forthcoming International Frequency Control Symposium, which takes place on June 5th to June 7th, 2006 in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Miami, Florida, USA.
Meeting highlights will include a plenary talk encompassing an FCS area of interest, presentation of awards, an exhibit area staffed by representatives of leading manufacturers of Frequency Control and Precision Timekeeping Equipment, and the technical and poster sessions. The Sensor Session on June 5th will be chaired by AXTAL's General Manager Bernd Neubig.
For applications in modular systems AXTAL introduces its high-stability OCXO series AXIOM90 and AXIOM95. These models come in a machined metal package with SMA connectors and with a mounting flange at the bottom side. The output has a sinusoidal wave form with an amplitude level of +3 dBm to +7 dBm @ 50 Ohm. The modules are available for supply vvoltages of 3.3 V, 5 V, or 12 Volt.
The high frequency stability is achieved with a precision quartz crystal unit, which is either an AT-cut or an SC-cut resonator, depending on the required stability and phase noise.
The AXIOM90 series covers the frequency range between 10 MHz and 40 MHz. The series AXIOM95, which is designed in the range from 80 MHz to 130 MHz, is optimized for lowest phase noise, and is therefore particularly dedicated for microwave applications.

In addition to the well-known VCXO, which employ quartz crystals or LGS or. GaPO4 resonators, AXTAL introduces now Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCO) based on coaxial resonators and etched resonators in the microwave frequency range.
The new SMD-VCO cover a frequency range from 250 MHz to 7400 MHzt. The standard package has a 12.7 x 12.7 mm footprint. In addition variants with a high output power level of +20 dBm are offered.
For higher frequencies up to 12.3 GHz a new line of VCO in a TO-8 package are introduced. These models are a perfect replacement of the obsolete Agilent VCO in the same package..

With its new model AXIOM60 AXTAL now offers an ultra-miniature OCXO with ± 100 ppb stability in the small C0 27 package, which measures only 9 x 14 x 8.5 mm (LxWxH). One target application is Stratum III , the requirements of which are exceeded by a fair margin, and potential disadvantages of TCXOs like hysteresis and frequency dips are overcome.

Our successful Wide-Pull-VCXO AXIS30 series is a SMD replacement of the obsolete Fujitsu M2 (F100) VCXO. Standard frequencies are 27 MHz, 28,224 MHz, 28,636 MHz and several others.
With its pulling range options of more than ± 2000 ppm AXIS30 meets well the requirements of Audio/Video and many other applications Due to the use of Langasite (LGS) resonators, the stability of AXIS30 is superior to the M2.

Bernd Neubig, General Manager of AXTAL, received the IEC 1906 Award from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This award was granted in recognition of the major contributions to furthering the electrotechnology standardization in the field of quartz crystal units and crystal oscillators. The award was bestowed to Mr. Neubig during the Electronica at the VDE booth.
